ENGLISH Lake Haukadalsvatn is located in Haukadalur, near the village of Búðardalur, on the West coast of Iceland. Distance from Reykjavík is approx. 140 km, taking Highway 587 through Brattabrekka. The lake covers an area of 3.2 km 2 . No organized campsite is available, one may however camp at the site, with the consent and advice of the landowner. Sea char from River Haukadalsá can almost exclusively be expected, but occasional salmon might be caught as well. Best chance of catching fish is where small creeks enter the lake. Fishing is allowed from dawn to dusk. The fishing season stretches from 1st May to 30th September. Peak season starts in mid-July and extends to the end of September.
